Is This a First?
Former HP head (and recent breast cancer survivor) Carly Fiorina just announced her intent to run for the Republican nomination to vie for the senate seat of Barbara Boxer in California. She’s not a shoo-in for the nomination, but if the race ended up being between two women, would that be a first?

No, it would not be a first. Women have run against women for U.S. senate seats before. See North Carolina 2008.
