Does Capuano Have an Opinion or Not?
Given all of Capuano’s bluster chastising public officials who “remain silent” on ”the issues of the day” I decided to check out whether there are issues on which Capuano has been silent himself. Turns out that yes, indeed, there are. There are a number of House Resolutions on which Capuano voted neither yea nor nay, but “present.” Check out the video. Anybody interested in the details of the legislation can go straight to the source, the Washington Post.

A number of house resolutions… yes, there are. You list 23 times he’s voted ‘present’. Please note the 7037 roll call votes (house or senate) he was present for and voted for.
Anybody interested in how Capuano voted should check out the complete list of votes which can be found at: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes.xpd?year=2009&person=400063
At the moment, your candidate is the front runner which leads me to inquire as to why an attack ad was run at all. To tell you the truth, this seriously made me question Coakley as a candidate for Senate.
Accusing the only candidate who has a record on issues of NOT having a stance on issues seems incredibly convoluted, sneaky and dishonest.
Just to clarify, this is not an advertisement produced by professionals or paid for by a campaign. It will not “run” in any paid media. It is a YouTube video made by an amateur (obviously), who is just a citizen speaking out. Since Capuano has attacked Coakley for being silent about what amounted to a single vote on Iraq, he’s the one who has made this an issue. Why shouldn’t we present the other side of the coin?

Thanks for putting this together. these are major issues of importance to MA and the country. I didn’t know he voted “Present” and I’m not happy about that since he’s my congressperson. I only know that when I’ve written him about an issue, even when he agrees with me, the letters sound preachy and condescending. Kind of like how he always sounds, even in clips above.
