Coakley today issued another in her series of white papers, this one on health care reform. The report points out that 97% of Massachusetts residents have health insurance, and that as AG, promoting quality health care and protecting consumers from unfair and deceptive insurance company practices has been one of Coakley’s primary goals. Coakley on a Second Stimulus: Let’s Finish and Assess Stimulus One First
Yesterday on WWZN Radio, Jeff Santos interviewed Coakley about the economy. She discussed how community banks could help stimulate job creation in the private sector by making loans available to entrepreneurs and to growing small businesses. One-Third of Senate (All Male) Votes to Deny Sexual Assault Due Process

Detained in a shipping container for at least 24 hours without food, water, or a bed, 19 year-old Jamie Leigh Jones was gang-raped by her co-workers while working for Halliburton/KBR in Baghdad. Not only was Ms. Jones deterred from seeking medical treatment under the threat of being fired, she was prevented from justice and due process by a binding contract. That’s right: her employment contract stipulated that sexual assault allegations could only be heard by “private arbitration,” and not in a U.S. court of law. [Read more →]
