Sen Murkowski: Law Should Protect Women from Rape

Yet another example of why we need women’s voices and votes in the senate:  Last week all of the women senators — Democrats and Republicans — came together to vote for an amendment barring use of taxpayer money to pay contractors who require employees to waive their right to sue in the event of workplace rape.  MinnPost quoted Lisa Murkowski as saying:

I want to make sure that a woman – any individual — who is a victim of a terrible act, knows that they have got protections.

The bill was sponsored by Al Franken and co-sponsored by Amy Klobuchar.  30 senators — all Republican and all male — voted nay.
