Fighting Hate Crimes
In a statement todayabout the AG’s office obtaining a civil rights injunction against a man charged with assaulting two women based on their perceived sexual orientation, Coakley said:
Unprovoked attacks cannot and will not be tolerated in Massachusetts. These incidents not only affect the victims, but the community as a whole.
Coakley has a long track record of aggressive action against hate crimes, according to the Executive Director of the state’s Transgender Political Coalition, whose letter to the editor was published in today’s Bay Windows.
